Brendan Stater-West: Vineyards

Brendan Stater-West has just 1 hectare of land in Les Chapaudaises, located just south of Brézé, a vineyard directly contiguous with the Clos de Guichaux, best known for its place in the Guiberteau portfolio, of course. The soils here comprise a loamy clay at the surface, this being a superficial layer just 40 to 60 centimetres deep. Beneath this we find the classic limestone of the region, usually referred to as tuffeau.

The vineyard is planted entirely with Chenin Blanc, and the vines have been farmed organically for years, long before Brendan acquired them. Unsurprisingly, in view of his association with Romain Guiberteau, Brendan has continued with the organic philosophy.
