Château Tour Grise: Tasting & Drinking
An early encounter with the wines of Château Tour Grise was with the 1999 Saumur Brut Rosé, and it was a fairly typical encounter, an enticing wine, and one that was quite evolved; it had, after all, spent six years sur lattes and several in bottle, bringing its age to eleven years by the time I drank it. But it was also tinged with little oxidative notes behind the maturing, caramel-tinged fruit, and so it would not appeal to all.
