Moulin Touchais: Tasting & Drinking

The wines of Moulin Touchais are certainly unique. Managed without recourse to oak in the cellars, and bottled early, they are a very pure and defined expression of the fruit, and of the vintage.

Other than that it is difficult to generalise in terms of style, as younger wines will give you something very different to older wines, and both are available for purchase from the cellars. The most recent vintages, 2000 and younger, have a slightly purer and brighter character to them which may simply reflect their youth, but it does feel to be something more than that. They have a slightly tauter character, more defined, than the older wines which do have a more old-fashioned Anjou softness to them, with nuances of brown-sugar sweetness at times. In many respects they reminded me of older vintages of Château de Bellerive, in terms of style at least.
