Didier Dagueneau: Tasting & Drinking

There is little doubt that there are wines here of the highest quality. Not having tasted every vintage, or every cuvée, it is perhaps inappropriate to generalise, but from what I have seen recent quality under the direction of Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau is no different to that seen under the tenure of his father, Didier.

I have visited the domaine several times, and have never failed to be impressed by Louis-Benjamin or his wines. A visit in 2017 was particularly memorable, as tasting the 2015 and 2016 vintages from stainless steel cuve (in the case of the former, the wines in assemblage ready for bottling) and barrel (in the case of the latter) I was struck by the incredible energy and precision found in the domaine cuvée. From that level upward, tasting my way through the single-vineyard wines, every cuvée was stunning.
