Domaine du Collier: Vineyards: Tasting & Drinking
My experience with Domaine du Collier has been limited to fleeting encounters, but in February 2013 I took advantage of an opportunity to meet Antoine and Caroline, and to taste through the latest vintages. Looking to the white wines first, these are certainly impressive, with lots of tension and minerality within the substance of the wines. The style is taut, stony, electric, and clearly very reflective of the limestone beneath the soils here. One note of caution though; I have seen a number of reports of more mature vintages expressing some notes of oxidation. Perhaps this is Antoine’s style, or perhaps the buyers just had some bad luck and picked up a mishandled lot. Either way, for me at least, the jury is out on this one.
