Clos Cristal: Tasting & Drinking
There is no shortage of interesting features to Clos Cristal; it is an almost unique vineyard (the walled vineyards in Thomery have largely disappeared, but it is worth noting that some of Antoine Cristal’s walled vineyards remain in the possession of Château de Parnay, just around the corner), and it is also very unusual in that it is in the ownership of a local hospital. The cellars are impressive. The wines made during the Eric Dubois era, in as ‘natural’ a fashion as possible, also found favour with many. I liked some of the wines made by Eric, especially Boutifolle, and I can’t deny that I am persistently intrigued by a vineyard full of walls as well as vines.
