Ronan by Clinet: Vineyards
The Ronan by Clinet project is predominantly red, although there is a smaller-volume of white wine also produced. Looking at the red first, this is 100% Merlot, and the vineyards are located in a number of different appellations, including the Côtes de Francs, Côtes de Castillon, Lussac-St Emilion and there are two domaines which have only the generic Bordeaux appellation. Of the latter, one is located on the right bank, the other in the Entre-Deux-Mers; as a consequence, this is very much a right-bank project. Ronan Laborde and his team effectively act as consultants, advising on viticulture, although the individual vignerons have the final say as to how they run their domaines. As you would imagine all these domaines are run along conventional lines; you won’t find an entry-level wine made from organic or biodynamic vineyards in Bordeaux.
The white vineyards are in fact located on just one estate, Chateau Roquefort, in the Entre-Deux-Mers. They are predominantly Sauvignon Blanc, and are managed as above.
