Château Grand Village: Tasting & Drinking
Insiders have long rated the wines of Château Grand Village. Sure, nobody is going to choose one of the red wines in preference to a bottle of Château Lafleur but that is certainly not a fair comparison. Looking at the red wines first, these are wines that offer a taste of the Guinaudeau style, a glimpse of what goes into Lafleur, but at a fraction of the price. They are not dirt-cheap, but they still have a lot to offer taking into account the outlay. In that respect they are a little like the wines of Roc des Cambes which, while not the most affordable example of Côtes de Bourg on the market, give us all an opportunity to catch a glimpse of that classic, liquorice-laced, degraded-fruit character we might experience if we were lucky enough to encounter the real thing in a bottle of Château Tertre Roteboeuf.
