Domaine de la Lande: Vineyards

Domaine de la Lande is located directly north of the town of Bourgueil, in the commune of the same name. This places it in a less broad section of the Bourgueil vineyards, well up on the côte where clay and limestone begin to dominate. Near neighbours here include Yannick Amirault, this well-known domaine being located literally just around the corner, and of course Domaine de la Butte, which sits slightly higher up the slope. Indeed, Domaine de la Lande sits right next to the road which runs up to this domaine.

The Delaunay family have approximately 16.5 hectares of vineyard to tend. The majority of this is within the Bourgueil appellation. Given the domaine’s position, it is surprising to learn that most of the vineyard is located on gravel, sandy-clay or sandy terroirs, pure clay and limestone playing a relatively minor role here. Beyond this appellation, François Delaunay also has some vines in St Nicolas de Bourgueil and in Chinon. The vines, like many in Bourgueil, are managed using organic methods, certified by Agence Bio.
