Catherine et Michel Langlois: Tasting & Drinking
It was a serendipitous encounter with their 2014 Les Charmes a year-or-so ago that alerted me to the work of Catherine et Michel Langlois. Not knowing the domaine well I was unsure what to expect, but would not have been surprised if it had been a lean and light varietal wine, stripped of any real character. As it happened nothing could have been further from the truth. Yes it had some varietal gooseberry notes, but it was a wine loaded with interesting citrus and orchard fruit character, wrapped in a voluminous texture combined with a deliciously fresh acid backbone. I was hooked.
