Château de Minière: Tasting & Drinking

It has not been an easy start for Kathleen at Château de Minière; she only took the estate in hand in 2010, and since then there has been a period of immense upheaval, buying and selling vineyards, finding new facilities, and a winemaker with whom she could not see eye to eye who eventually departed. Add to that a vintage in which she lost 95% of the crop, this being the result of the frost in 2016, and financial pressure is added to the mix. This catastrophe explains why she made such stringent efforts to protect the crop from the frost in 2017, including the use of helicopters. Even so, in this more recent vintage the vineyard again suffered frost damage, but the secondary budding seems to have been good, so the prospects look better.
