I am deeply saddened to share news this morning of the passing of Stéphanie Caslot.

Stéphanie Caslot, of Domaine de la Chevalerie, the daughter of Pierre Caslot (1952 – 2014), brother to Emmanuel, passed away yesterday after a brief but serious illness.

I first met Stéphanie at a tasting in London many years ago. Her radiant smile lit up the room, and her generous nature was evident. The wines she poured were wonderful too. After her father Pierre’s passing, she and brother Emmanuel continued his legacy at the domaine, as they pressed on with making the most wonderful wines in Bourgueil.

Her passing so suddenly, at such a young age, is a heart-breaking tragedy. My thoughts today are with Emmanuel and family, and all her friends and colleagues in and around Bourgueil.
