With a very select list of top names, the Ditton Wine Traders website is well worth a visit. There are lots of high-scoring wines - Larcis-Ducasse 2005 for instance - as well as other "wines of the moment", such as Pedesclaux 2005.

Another merchant has come on board as a Winedoctor sponsor, the merchant in question being none other than Cadman Fine Wines. Established by Giles Cadman, whose philosophy is a worthy one; his aim is to provide high quality wines at reasonable prices.

With a focus on real wines, a penchant for the Loire (although there are wines from the Rhône and elsewhere) and great service, it might come as no surprise that Artisan Wines was a recent winner of my 'Merchant of the Year' award. I buy here!

Edencroft Fine Wines are based in Nantwich, and maintain a high quality list of wines available by mail order. Proprietor Mark Brookshaw is also well known for letting some wines go at knockdown prices in the occasional sale. Get on the mailing list!

D'Vino is one of the UK's many independent merchants who have focussed their attention on one region or country, giving it considerable strength. The choice here is Italy; choose from the list, or have hassle-free, pre-selected cases delivered to your door.

Bordeaux Wine Investments is the trading name of Rob Lench, who has been trading in wine from his base in Sevenoaks since 1998. Rob has a fine selection of Bordeaux, Rhônes and Vintage Port for sale, and offers many other services alongside.

Marcus Edwards had more than ten years in the trade under his belt when he set up Albany Vintners. The attraction here is a heady combination of wholesale prices and a minimum order of just £200, a figure which puts some other UK traders to shame.
