Chateau de Valflaunés Coteaux du Languedoc Pic Saint Loup 'Favorite' 1998: A deep, glossy colour, and an impressive nose. Intense blueberry and blackberry fruits lead he way, but with plenty of smouldering garrigue herbs, stone and organic aromas, and later more meaty, gamey notes. No disappointment on the palate, with intense and interesting flavours, backed up by ripe, creamy tannins which coat the mouth on the finish. Plenty of extract yet balanced, elegant, simply gliding across the palate. Brilliant wine. 17/20 (29/12/03)
