Prunotto Barbera d'Asti Fiulot 2000: A deep, red purple colour to
this youthful wine. A lovely nose, dense and rich, with cherry fruit. In the
background there is the barest, yet unmistakeable, hint of cork taint. Warm,
rich and creamily textured on the palate. Lots of ripe, chewy tannins, which
provide some lovely structure and grip. Low acidity. Tannic, grippy finish. This
is a lovely wine. Unfortunately with a little time the cork taint takes over the
nose, and becomes quite apparent on the palate also. A great shame as I think I would
have otherwise rated this wine as good, if not very good. No
score.
