Marcarini Barolo La Serra 1997: The colour has some maturity, and a
moderate density. Great interest on the nose, which has perfumed, mature, sweet,
wood-spicy fruit aromas, with a macerated edge, intertwined with more complex
notes of game, leather, violets and more. On the palate it is full and sweet,
but with good balance, upset only by a seam of tannins that still runs
throughout the wine. Lovely fluidity. Roasted-macerated fruit with more
secondary flavours. Delicious and complex, but needs to lose the tannin. Try
again in two to three years. 17+/20
