Domaine Hauvette Les Baux de Provence 1998

Domaine Hauvette Les Baux de Provence 1998: Moderate depth of colour, showing some maturity at the rim. Lots of smoky, burnt cherry, charred meat aromas on the nose. Lovely texture on entry, light but in keeping with the body, with just a little hint of creaminess. This builds on the midpalate, which shows fresh acidity and more than a modicum of grippy tannin too. Cherry Grenache flavour but with the tannic structure of Cabernet. Short finish, with some lingering tannin. Characterful, and I like it. Will improve for 2-3 years more yet. 16+/20 (29/3/05)
