La Chablisienne Chablis Cuvée La Chablisienne 1996: This wine has a pale lemon yellow hue. The nose has classic flinty, mineral and smoke elements, so typical of Chablis. There are also vanilla and spicy oak aromas, suggesting some barrel maturation - not a universal practice in Chablis. The palate is clean, nicely rounded, with some buttery notes and white fruit. Pleasant acidity. The palate is a little disappointing - the nose promised more. Not one of the better wines I've had from this co-operative. 13/20 (24/6/00)
