Mas de Bressades Cuvée Excellence 2001

Mas de Bressades Cuvée Excellence Costières de Nimes 2001: A Syrah dominated blend from this estate. It has a lovely depth of red-purple colour which is quite dense. The nose is full of sweet berry and brambly fruit, with a meaty, slightly sweaty, tarry, earthy complexity. Similarly impressive on the palate, which has a wealth of sweet, ripe, opulent fruit, with a floral and tarry edge. A big and showy texture with fine, ripe tannins and firm acidity giving a lovely, fluid balance. Good, firm, fruit preserve finish. This is impressive stuff. 16.5/20 (12/4/04)
