Chateau de Beaucastel
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2001

Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2001: This wine has a pale, golden-yellow hue in the glass. The nose is delightful, full of ripe melon, peach, and pear fruit, and is loaded with minerals. There is also a sense of a fat, rich, quality, which certainly comes through on the palate also. Very dry, but with a fat, rich and slightly oily texture, and a flavour profile of bitter minerals with some stone fruit. Notes of quinine on the finish. Very approachable now, but surely set for future development. Drink or hold for five years at least. 18+/20 (28/2/03)
