Domaine D'Aupilhac Coteaux du Languedoc Montpeyroux 'Le Clos' 1998: Comprises 40% each of Mourvèdre & Carignan, and 20% Syrah. An intensely coloured, dark garnet-purple wine. And what a nose! Open, warm and expressive, stuffed with the scents of the garrigue over dark, rich summer fruits, and a smoky edge. A full, sweet, creamy edged palate, with massively rich texture, backed up by dry tannin and just moderate acidity. Plenty of flavour here, and plenty of potential. Needs another two or three years at least in the cellar. 16.5+/20 (24/11/03)
